Making a Difference at Shepherds of Good Hope

Our Ottawa-based Crown team recently spent two days volunteering at Shepherds of Good Hope, an organization which supports those experiences homelessness and vulnerable adults in the community. Over the course of two days, we dedicated four hours each day to lending a helping hand in various tasks, ranging from serving meals to the homeless to sorting clothes and preparing snacks.

Upon arrival we were split off into teams and each assigned a task to help with the days work. Our team quickly got to work, seeing how we were making an immediate difference was incredibly humbling.

Throughout both days we were able to connect with other volunteers, staff members, and individuals benefiting from the organization’s services, we developed a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by the homeless population. This eye-opening experience served as a poignant reminder of the importance of compassion and empathy.

Volunteering at Shepherds of Good Hope was an unforgettable experience that transcended the confines of our daily corporate lives. Through serving meals, completing countless dishes, sorting clothes, and preparing nourishing snacks, we recognized that our efforts, no matter how small, collectively contribute to the well-being of those in need. This truly humbling encounter served as a powerful reminder that corporate responsibility extends beyond our four walls; it must encompass giving back to our surrounding community.
