Last week, the Crown leasing team along with our listing partners at JLL volunteered in a team build day at Habitat for Humanity. Our site for the day was 423 Old Weston Road, where we were helping to build 20 stacked townhomes. It was a great opportunity for us to give back to our community and work together as a team.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the site supervisor who gave us a safety briefing and an overview of the project. We were split into smaller teams and assigned various tasks, such as repairing and building HVAC bulkheads, sealing doorways, insulating, and installing blocking supports. It was amazing to see how quickly our team got to work, and how much progress we made throughout the day!
A highlight of the day was virtually meeting one of the future homeowners and hearing how life changing Habitat for Humanity has been for them. It gave us a sense of purpose and motivation to see who would be benefiting from the results of our work. We were happy to be a part of making their dream of owning a home a reality!
The day gave us the chance to get out of our comfort zones, try something new, and contribute to an amazing cause. The current housing affordability crisis in the city is real and needs to be addressed quickly. We’d like to thank Habitat for Humanity for providing us with this meaningful opportunity, we look forward to taking part in future projects!
From now until the end of the year we’re hoping to fundraise $5,000 in support for Habitat for Humanity to continue to support families in need of housing affordability across the GTA.
