Crown is proud to announce it has won four race2reduce awards for sustainability at the 2019 CREST Awards, which took place on October 24th in Toronto. 

390 Bay Street received the Innovative Excellence Award, which recognizes those who have implemented creative and effective approaches, strategies, technologies, to achieve their energy and sustainability objectives. Crown collaborated with Energy at Work on several energy programs and strategies to make 390 Bay Street more efficient and sustainable. These initiatives included KPI tracking, promoting energy efficiency and operational excellence in collaborative efforts with the building owners, managers, operations, BOMA and Tenants. In addition, a review of the visibility of sustainability achievements was conducted. Through these efforts, 390 Bay Street was able to achieve and surpass its sustainability goals. 

Sustainability Highlights

  • Total Electricity savings in 20 months (incentive plus avoided cost): $139,000 + 40% over the target.
  • Total monetary benefit of utility savings including steam, electricity, and water in 8 months:  $224,488
  • -119 Ton GHG reduction (11% reduction from 2017)

The Leadership in Energy Management Award went to Crown’s 901 King Street West90 Sheppard Avenue East and 20 Carlson Court properties. This award recognizes teams that have demonstrated  a commitment to improve the energy efficiency and operational best practices in their buildings.

The 2019 CREST Awards program honours participants from the commercial real estate industry’s race2reduce program that have demonstrated continual commitment and improvement in the management and operation of their buildings. Properties and tenants are recognized in areas of Energy Management Leadership, Innovative Excellence, and Collaborative Excellence.
